A date for all your diaries - our annual bash next year is on July 5 2008, with rumours of a return of Queen B supported by the Somerset Paddies. Confirmations to follow but please keep this date free.
Congratulations to Josh Blythe (U13 Player of the Year), Greg Morgan (Junior of the Year), Jim Russell (Player of the Year) and Gerald Porter (Clubman of the Year) for their awards presented at the club's excellent annual dinner on 19 October at Thornbury Golf Centre. Chairman Gerald Porter thanked everyone for their support of the club during the year. A special mention is due for Nigel Hopkins who struggled to the event despite a chronic back problem caused by spitting too violently into the sink when cleaning his teeth! Many thanks also to the legendary Derek Underwood, who kindly signed two cricket balls on his recent visit to the ground. 'Deadly' Derek was a superb spin bowler for England, in and around the 1970s and was virtually unplayable on a damp wicket. The balls were kindly auctioned by Jim Noad who has recently moved into the village and they raised £60 for club funds.
PLEASE ALL NOTE - The AGM is on Sunday 18 November at 7pm at the cricket pavilion. PLEASE come along. Anyone interested in getting more involved with the club should contact Gerald Porter.
Monthly meetings are now back to Sundays, the first Sunday of each month at 8pm in the cricket pavilion.
CHRISTMAS GOLF is on Friday 28 December this year. Details to follow. Contact Jim R.
Thanks to everyone for a very successful Queen Night, despite the floods of the day before and the rain late in the evening. Thanks to Ian & co for keeping us dry! Next year's event is already being planned with a provisional date of 5 July.
Thanks to Colin for the Ashes Day BBQ, and congrats to the OLD ONES!!!

Of course, being a typical village, we have two excellent pubs that are frequented throughout the year - The Anchor and The Ship. Both are great stopping off places after playing or watching a game of cricket, or walking along the Severn Way down past the Sailing Club to the bank of the River Severn. Both pubs do good food and have a good selection of beers.
Why
not join us as an associate member of the club. Its only £7.50! How many of your
friends are members of a genuine English village cricket club. We would like to
have members from every continent!
We'd also love you to sponsor us - from sponsoring a match ball to inclusion of your company details on this web site.
We organise regular social events. These range from 'bingo' in the local pub to a big barn dances and similar events. We would very much welcome any donations of prizes that could be auctioned at our events - please email us if you are willing and able to provide something interesting - large or small! If we can get good prizes, we may well auction them on our site.
Whatever your interest, we would love to hear from you. Including if you have a complimentary web site that we can swap links to.
