IRON
ACTON V’s OOSVCC Sunday 19th May 2002
In a typically cold beginning of season match Oldbury elected to bat after winning the toss. J Dyke (35) and N Hopkins (24) put on a first wicket partnership of 52 showing the captains decision to be right. J Russell (20), A Harris (16) and P May (19) all got themselves in although could not convert into big scores. C Perry (8-0-40-4) was the pick of the Iron Acton attack restricting Oldbury to 160 All Out. A Harris (8-4-12-1) bowled tightly but to no avail. The introduction of B Ainsworth (8-0-41-3) removed the openers, notably A Pike (30) wickets then began to fall regularly with the exception of C Bradley (41) who appeared to have the cricketing gods on his side when P May ( 4-0-5-1) removed a bail only to see it land back on the stumps unperturbed. Eventually T May-Hawksbury (3-0-11-2) mopped up the tail with 10 balls remaining and Oldbury winning by 14 runs.
